Synthesis and Characterization of Ga doped ZnONanocrystals with Potential Applications in Photonics

Authors
Abstract
In this study, gallium doped zinc oxide GZO nanocrystals were prepared by a simple sol-gel route. As-prepared GZO sol was characterized using UV–Vis absorption and photoluminescence PL spectroscopy, FTIR. The GZO nanopowders were prepared by drying of the sol and characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis XRD, transmission electron microscopy TEM, and scanning electron microscopy SEM. The results showed that the prepared nanoparticles have a good luminescence property in the visible area that has not been reported before. In addition, X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the samples had a hexagonal structure. The synthesized colloidal sample has strong blue light emission that was not reported before. The presence of gallium, zinc and related bonds in the structure was confirmed by EDAX and FTIR characterization. Studies showed that GZO nanocrystals can be a good candidate for nuclear detection, LEDs and optoelectronic devices.
