Abstract
Due to importance of nanofibers in the field of pharmaceutical sciences and drug delivery applications, herein we decided to use poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) nano fibers as drug carriers for Metronidazole. In this regard, first poly vinyl alcohol solution electrospinned without drug for obtain electrospining optimum condition of reference carrier. Then in one step, poly vinyl alcohol solution containing Metronidazole elecrospinned& in the second stage, asolution of a combination of PVA+PVP with a specific weight ratio contains Metronidazole under optimum conditions at KV voltage, cm for nozzel to collector distance and injection rate of mL/h. In order to drug release control and improvement of surface wettability the prepared polymeric nanofiberscrosslinked with glutaraldehyde. The prepared mats of nanofibers characterized with scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM), fourier transform Infrared (FT-IR), contact angle analysis.  In vitro drug release from nanofibers in to the buffer phosphate saline (PBS) solution were measured using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) at wave length of 289 nm. In vitro drug release showed that crosslinkednanofibers had lower drug release rate in higher time.
