Abstract
A ternary one-dimensional photonic crystal biosensor is introduced as an optical biosensor for quick and easy detection of bacteria. The air/(AMB)N/D/(AMB)N/glass structure contains a defect layer between two similar periodic structures that are filled with normal blood and contaminated with bacterial samples. In the proposed structure, Aluminum Gallium Nitride and Gallium Arsenide quantum dots have been used to observe and compare the effects in the infrared and visible regions. The results show that the use of AlxGa1-xN and GaAs semiconductor quantum dots in the layers increases the sensitivity. This design provides an average sensitivity of 1093.75 and 316.66 nm/RIU in the infrared and visible regions respectively. Such simulations will be practical in advancing future research and enhancing knowledge in this field.
